The Food Quality Center FQC, is an entity within the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Zahle and the Bekaa.

Established in 2007 with the support of USAID and ACDI/VOCA, it is located in the heart of the Bekaa region to serve the agro-food industry sector in quality assurance and food safety, as well as microbiological , physico-chemical and toxins testing for all areas of agro food industries.

The center is managed under the ISO 9001:2008 and the laboratory got the ISO 17025 accreditation since 2012.

FQC is involved in improving food safety through inspection, testing and capacity building for the stakeholders along the value chain

The laboratory is recognized by the Lebanese Ministries of Agriculture and Economy & Trade for testing agro-food products.

Laboratory Food Testing Services


The food laboratory at FQC provides testing support for all areas of the food and agriculture industries. In response to the growing needs of the food producers in the Bekaa region to offer high-quality and safe products, FQC has expanded its microbiology lab space and services.

The team is implementing ISO 17025 laboratory management to provide internationally approved tests: Food Chemical analysis, Wet chemistry, Rheology, Analysis of food products: jams, pickles, meals ready to eat, frozen or dried items, dips & sauces, dairy products, vegetable oils, Honey & drinking water.

Microbial Tests and toxins:


- Analysis of food for indicator organisms like:

colony count, coliforms, yeasts and molds,E.coli, fecal coliforms bacteria…

- Detection and enumeration of pathogenic bacteria like:

Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillusaureus, Clostridium perfringens, Salmonella species, and Listeria monocytogenes

- Research microbiology (shelf-life evaluation, process validation and trouble shooting)

- All kind of toxins tests
